Hilary Nelson - Dance Director

Hilary Nelson is the Director of Dance at Gymcats. She was a competitive gymnast from ages 5-13 until she suffered an ankle injury and turned to dance instead. After studying and competing dance in high school, she choreographed for her college dance club, taught dance and coached gymnastics in Hershey, PA. She also choreographed level 7-9 and xcel competitive gymnastics floor routines and the gymnasts competed dance locally. In 2009 she moved to Scranton, PA, where she was the dance teacher for Pocono Mountain Charter School, teaching grades K-12. On the side she taught at Arabesque Academy of Dancing and First Class Gymnastics. After 2 years in Scranton she moved to Las Vegas, NV and has been teaching at studios locally until her recent move to Gymcats in April 2013.  She is a Level 1 Certified Dance Teacher from Dance Teacher University through UNLV.

She also performed throughout Texas and Oklahoma with the WT Dance Ensemble. She has also had the opportunity to go to conventions and workshops including Technique in Taos, Tremaine, and Dance Teacher Web.

Amanda Stephens

Miss Amanda was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. She found her passion for dance at the age of 4 when her mother enrolled her into a baby ballet class. She continued her dance training through college as she has been taught by famous dancers of the Tap Dogs (Gregory Filler and Jeremy Fullam), a Ballet Mistress (Vicky Byers), and great Las Vegas choreographers such as Missy Cochran and Jim Deutz. By 15 years old she realized that she did not want to pursue a dance career but instead wanted to share her joy of dancing with children. As a high school student, Amanda assisted classes at Dance Etc., and after graduation began educating dancers at a Creative Arts Studio in Las Vegas for four years, as well as choreographed and organized their performance dance team. She has worked for several other dance companies and we are pleased that she is here at Gymcats.

She has studied under many influential choreographers such as, Misha Grabriel, Joe Tremaine, & Kathryn McCormick.  She’s also won numerous competitive awards including Senior Solo National Champion.  After high school, Aubrey moved to Las Vegas to  pursue her dance career at the Theater Arts Preparatory School to be a professional dancer, singer, and actress.
